“Same here… Don’t worry, I didn’t pamper Fire and Spit too much while you disappeared…” He chuckles, Effy hadn’t changed much since he last saw her, that was pretty cool. Something remained constant in his life, and he liked that.

She chuckled, the two ferrets currently curled up around her neck, Spit in her lap. She was stroking his fur, humming a bit under her voice. She leaned her head back, a faint headache throbbing against her temple. She exhaled sharply, looking up at his face before her eyes dropped. 

“What’ve you been up to?”

Freddie.  

Finally out of the hospital. Finally able to walk around, get fresh air, use her legs. She swallowed hard, fingers gripping at the sweater that was wrapped around her frame. She needed to find him, to be near him. It had be absolute hell trying to recover and not knowing if he was alright. The last she saw him, she broke his heart. She had warned him, Effy had told him before. 

She ran a hand through her hair, stomach still slightly tender from her episode with Victor. Her feet carried her silent towards the woods, head bowed before ducking under the branches of the trees, almost as if passing through a veil. Instantly, she felt at peace. 

Her eyes darted around, lips parted faintly as she glanced around in slight wonder— she had only been there once with Freddie and now she was here, alone. This was the only place she figured Freddie would be at. Her  boots carried her across the pines and grass, teeth biting her lower lip. she paused before the lake, staring over it. 

“…Freddie.”

Reckless Driving || William

He waited patiently for her to say something, the steady beeping of the machines and drip of her IV the only real noise in the room. Surely the girl had family, even with how disconnected William was with his own, he even still could say he had family. It’d only be a matter of time before someone in the girl’s family showed up and chased him off, right? William pushed the thought away, a slight smile on his lips when she spoke up again. 

“Nice name ya’ got, swee’heart” William spoke softly, taking a moment to walk around the bed and sit in the chair on the other side of the bed. He tipped his head up when a nurse poked her head in to check on Effy, giving the woman a soft smile as she left. 

“Al’igh’ with me, ‘ll stay ‘til ya’ fam’ly comes an’ chases me out.”

“My parents..have a funny sense of humour..” she said slowly, her voice a croaking noise. She wrinkled her nose a bit before coughing, dexterous fingers gripping the sheets in pain. Her eyes blinked away the tears that formed, only to really appreciate how he looked. High cheek bones, dark eyes, soft looking hair. Gorgeous. Her head rested back against the pillow, the scratchy surface bothering her cheek. 

“They wont be coming.” she said softly. She shifted once more in the bed, the IV on the top of her hand making it hard for her to move. Effy blinked, actually surprised he was going to stay. 

”..you’ll.. really stay?”

I C V || V.

V had taken the gesture to mind and took a seat. Watched her tentatively. He sat in silence with her for a few minutes until he deemed it right to finally ask. Until he gathered up enough nerve to finally ask out of respect.

“Who did this to you…?” V’s voice still remained calm, his accent mild and words flowing sweet like honey. He wanted to ask what happened, specifically, but he now asked in the order from things he wanted to know the most to the things he least could be concerned with.

Effy easily looked like a ghost. She could have been as pale as Guy Fawkes himself in certain light. He took notice of the IV. Kept an eye on the heart monitor. Listened in if anyone would be coming in to check up on her. He kept track of all of these things. Multitasking wasn’t too difficult.

He kept a hand on the bed that she lay on. Tried to show her that he was still interested.

And patiently awaited an answer.

She stared at the rose before trying to find the right way to answer. She was just as at fault with Creed as he was for trying to kill her. It wasn’t like Effy didnt know the possible consequences. He wasn’t the nicest guy around. And how to explain the situation without making herself seem easy? A sigh left her lips before she touched the petal of the rose. 

“A man.” she said carefully. “He’s an animal.. Im just as at fault, V.” she murmured softly. “While I knew he was capable of hurting me, I didnt necessarily think he’d try to kill me.” Her lips were in a thin line. 

She had a feeling that V wanted a name and wanted it now, but she just couldnt. She wasn’t stupid — revenge made people do very irrational things; things that V could get away with. Victor was just doing what he did best.

“Enough about me.” she dismissed, sitting up a bit and touching his hand gently. 

“Its been some time.”

Hawkeye Hospital ||Clint

“Hey, hey. Calm down, darlin’,” Clint replied with a small smile. “I just mean that sometimes I get injured and that it was a narrow miss for me when he got hit,” he continued, worried that the nurse might come in a gain because of the monitors. It had been a narrow one that time, and he was pretty thankful he’d escaped that.

“Good,” he grinned, “If you do, I’ll have to lock you up or something.”

“Wouldnt wanna do that.” she mumbled into his chest, resting against his body. He was solid, just as she remembered. Effy hummed a bit, her arm wrapping around his neck, fingers playing with the strands of his dark hair. 

“Hate bein’ tied down.”
